Internet Connection

Setting up an wired internet Connection on ubuntu is not required, simply connect the cable.

Setting up an wireless internet Connection on Ubuntu is almost as easy.
On your desktop in the top right corner, between the 'battery' and 'volume' icons is your 'network manager'.
Left or Right click it and you will be presented with a menu showing 'available wireless networks'.
At the bottom of this list you can click 'more wireless networks' if your network is not shown.
Click on your network, and you will be prompted for your password.
Type in the password for your wireless network and click connect.
You should be connected and on-line within a few seconds.

If you have a hidden wireless network ( a recommended security measure ).
You need to select 'connect to a hidden wireless network' and enter the network details manually.
Again this is simple, you have to type the name of your network.
Select the wireless security type (normally WPA / WPA2 on home networks).
Then type in the password for your wireless network and click connect.
You should be connected and online within a few seconds.
